Lorica Segmentata
The armor I’ve purchased for our reenactment is called “Lorica Segmentata” which is the modern name for armor made of riveted and strapped plates of steel. This kind of armor is well-attested in Roman statuary from the First Century. The formed iron plates have a band of leather inside them which is riveted to the separate plates, both holding them together and allowing flexibility.
