The goal of Romans in Judaea is to provide a realistic reenactment of Roman legionnaires during Manhattan Kansas’ Bethlehem Revisited event. But what is the point of Bethlehem Revisited? To tell the story of Christ’s birth, life, death, and resurrection… to share the Good News and the redemptive story–that God has made a way for man to be reconciled to Himself.
We want our part of Bethlehem Revisited to be a reminder of how God worked through Caesar Augustus to bring Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem to be born, just where scripture said he would be born, thousands of years earlier. Think of that when you pass by the members of Legio VI Ferrata and they’re collecting your “census cards” on a cold winter night in “Bethlehem.”
