Inkwell

An inkwell whose lid swings aside on a brass-wire pivot.

Printing and assembly

Three parts in PLA, no supports. Print the body upright, the top as supplied (upside down), and the lid flat.

Paint the top and lid first. Add any ballast to the body, then glue the top on. Drill the pivot holes to fit 1.2 mm brass wire, glue the wire into the top only, and bend over its end or add a bead to hold the lid. Keep glue out of the pivot.

Finishing

Sand lightly, then spray high-build automotive primer. Add a few dings with a small tool. Spray Krylon Metallics Brass, then age it with a burnt-umber wash.
